My Story:
GP Designs was created because of my passion for fishing and the ocean.
Although now a Mount Pleasant, SC resident, I grew up in the land locked city of Atlanta, GA. After attending Clemson University (Go Tigers!) I decided to make the permanent move closer to the ocean. After spending many summers out on Sullivan’s Island, Charleston seemed like the perfect place to live. I have now lived in Charleston for 4 years and there is no place I’d rather be! I enjoy offshore fishing, surfing, boating, and pretty much anything outdoors.
My art:
I have always had a love for art, especially woodworking. I started carving fish after I caught a massive 56 pound Dolphin off the coast of South Carolina. Looking into the cost of having a replica mount made of my trophy fish I decided that I could just carve one out of wood for much cheaper (thanks to inspiration from other artists)… thus GP Designs was created! I started out making custom orders for friends and have now expanded my business to local art events such as The SEWE Festival and also to local restaurants.
Each fish is unique in shape and coloring. I hand carve every fish and hand paint with color staining. I love a new challenge and welcome new ideas for different pieces!
